SMBC Setup TiviMate

Step-by-Step Guide​

Step 1​

Open File Explorer on your PC and select the location you’d like the recording to be saved on your network.
In this example, I chose my local C drive.

Step 2​

Create a new folder: right-click and select New, then Folder. Name it whatever you’d like. In this example, I’ve named the folder ZAK TiviMate.

Step 3​

Right-click the folder and select Properties. On the top, click the Sharing tab (beside the General tab).

Click on Share.

Step 4​

Select the dropdown menu, choose Everyone, and click Add.

Step 5​

Change permissions to Read/Write and hit Share at the bottom.

Step 6​

Close the window, go into Settings, and select Network & Internet. Then select Properties.

Step 7​

Make sure your network is set to Private Network.

Step 8​

Go back, scroll down, and select Advanced Sharing Settings.

Step 9​

Ensure Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing are both ON.
Make sure you have Password Protected Sharing OFF.

Step 10​

Close settings and open CMD (Command Prompt) from the taskbar.

Step 11​

Type in ipconfig and press enter.

Step 12​

Write down or take a picture of the IPv4 address shown.

Step 13​

Now, go to your Firestick or the device with TiviMate installed, and navigate to Settings.

Step 14​

Select Other.

Step 15​

Select Recording.

Step 16​

Select Recording Folder.

Step 17​

Click Select Folder and then Setup SMB.

Step 18​

Input the IPv4 address noted from CMD. Select OK.

Step 19​

You should see the IPv4 network. Click on it and select OK.

Step 20​

You should see the folder you created in Step 2. Click on it and hit Select.

That’s it! This folder will serve as the file path where all recordings from TiviMate will be saved.

Side Note​

You can create another folder on your C drive (or any other location) for backup purposes.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select General, scroll down, and click on Back Up Data.
  3. Choose the SMB created earlier, select the backup folder, and click Save.

This setup ensures your backups are stored and can be used on multiple devices without having to manually reconfigure settings.

Verification​

To confirm functionality:

  1. Record a channel (e.g., Comedy Central FHD). img
  2. Stop the recording after a few minutes.
  3. Check the recordings tab in TiviMate to confirm the recording is saved.
  4. Verify the recording is saved in your local drive as expected. img
